Looking for a personal challenge? One that might provide you with a little better insight?

Then on this Friday, take the time to seriously reflect on and answer this three-part question:

Tell me who you are through these three elements:

(a) a personal relationship in which you are involved;

(b) a strongly held belief that you have;

(c) a personal ability of yours.

Tell me as much as you can about that relationship. What do you like about it? What could improve about it? What are some of its challenges? What does that relationship say about you? How does it define you?

Tell me as much as you can about your strongly held belief. What is its strength? What is its weakness? Why is it that you hold this belief so strongly? What does this belief say about you? How does it define you?

Tell me as much as you can about your personal ability. Is it a mental, emotional, or physical (or combination of these) ability? What is its strength? What is its weakness? Why did you select this ability to reflect upon? How have you used this ability?

We remain social creatures, my friend. We view ourselves through our relationships - good and bad. We even allow those relationships to further define ourselves. We are intricately connected to one another, impacting each other's life, intensity and direction.

We remain spiritual beings as well, my friend. We view ourselves through our convictions, our values and our personal abilities. We put into practice these convictions, ideals, values and abilities each day, allowing the experiences to shape us and mature us.

We remain a cosmic mix of the physical and spiritual, of professional and personal, of passion and purpose. And it's a cosmic mix that takes a lifetime to sift through and clarify... so don't sweat trying to sort it all out today.

In closing, I leave you with one final challenge. And it is this:

Take a moment to look at the relationship, strongly held belief and personal ability that you chose:

Overall, do you feel positive about each of them?

When was the last time you used that relationship to energize you?

When was the last time you put that strongly held belief into action?

When was the last time you put that personal ability into use for the good of others?

You will most likely find that it is not happenchance that you selected these three specific elements; for on those few days where you've experienced "everything going right," all three elements were most likely being used to energize you, motivate you, and focus you - consciously and unconsciously.

It seems that in all that cosmic mix of physical and spiritual, there is order. And in that order is Almighty purpose and passion.
