NATIVITY PLAYGROUND RENOVATION WEBSITE

Committee Members:

Thanks to all that were able to make our first meeting of the Playground Renovation Committee - a lot of great discussion and ideas. As with the launch of any great NASA shuttle or any great school project, the most energy burned is that on the front end of the venture. And at our first meeting, we quickly realized that we would need a follow-up meeting. Here is the time, date and location (please let me know if you will or will not be able to attend):

Wednesday, May 7; 5:00 pm; Nativity Elementary Library

Margit Schmelka has graciously agreed to serve as our secretary and will be getting notes to me concerning our meeting on May 1. I'll send them out to you in the next week. In the meantime, here's an abbreviated review our meeting and outcomes:

I. OPENING PRAYER

II. COMMITTEE INTRODUCTIONS (Opening Remarks by Cindy Hutchins)

III. APPOINTMENT OF SECRETARY

Margit Schmelka agreed to serve as our secretary and record minutes of our meetings, decisions, and outcomes.

IV. PLAYGROUND RENOVATION OVERVIEW/COMMITTEE GOALS

Lee Hoedl reviewed the progress of the playground renovation since May 2007 and then shared the committee goals (as outlined in the Nativity Playground Play Station Replacement Plan [Nativity PTO Proposal Section], submitted to the Nativity PTO Board on March 14, 2008).

The basic goals identified for the committee are as follows:

1. Design and location of the new playground playstation

2. Recruitment of Nativity community volunteers for playstation removal and installation

3. Community celebration of the new playstation

4. Recruitment and identification of financial donors for the new playstation

Our priority at this moment will be to focus on Goal 1 above prior to the end of the 2007-08 academic year and then to begin to address the following goals.

V. TIMELINE

This section will be further discussed at our May 7 committee meeting.

VI. PLAN OF ACTION

In preparation for our May 7 meeting, the following plan of action will be addressed:

1. For student input into the playstation design process, Cindy Hutchins will be working with the 4th grade teachers and classes. There will be a short discussion with each of the 4th grade classes as to the particular elements they enjoy in a playstation. This information will be considered into the committee's final design of the playstation. Lee Hoedl will help facilitate the classroom discussion.

2. Lee Hoedl will contact Kyle Edgerton and Todd Mickelson to indentify any FCSN process for potential grant writing by the committee.

3. Committee members will review the provided catalogue of playstation equipment and begin developing their personal "wish list" to share at the May 7 committee meeting.

VII. NEXT MEETING

Our next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, May 7 at 5:00 pm in the Nativity Library.

THANK YOU AGAIN SO MUCH FOR BEING A PART OF THIS WONDERFUL PROJECT!

Peace, Lee
