Committee Members:
Thanks
to all that were able to make our second meeting of the Playground Renovation
Committee. We continue to move forward with our plans to have the play
station in place by the beginning of the 2008-09 school year. Please review
the notes from our last meeting on Wednesday, May 7, below. Discussion
outcomes from this committee meeting are in bold dark blue.
I
would like to receive your personal "wish list" of playground
play station equipment no later than Thursday,
May 15. Please submit your list to me (item and page #
from the catalogue distributed) by email - to leehoedl@yahoo.com.
Our
next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, May 28 at 5:00 pm in the Nativity
Library. I hope you are able to join us. Even if you are not able to join
us for initial committee meetings, there will still be opportunities in
the coming months to help out as a committee member, so please stay involved
and informed by these emails.
Peace,
Lee

PLAN OF ACTION FOLLOW-UP
In
preparation for the May 7 committee meeting, the following plan of action
was developed.
1.
For student input into the playstation design process, Cindy Hutchins
will be working with the 4th grade teachers and classes. There will
be a short discussion with each of the 4th grade classes as to the particular
elements they enjoy in a playstation. This information will be considered
into the committee's final design of the playstation. Lee Hoedl will
help facilitate the classroom discussion.
Follow-Up:
The classroom surveying was not able to occur on Tuesday, May 6, due
to conflicting schedules. Lee and Cindy will attempt a similar plan
of action for Tuesday, May 13, with the 4th grade classes.
Further
Committee Actions: (1) Cindy Hutchins will work with the 4th grade teachers
to see if there is a new time for Lee Hoedl to survey these two classes.
(2) As well, Rita Visser will meet with the kindergarten class to survey
their preferences in the coming week(s). (3) Lee Hoedl will draft up
a playground renovation newsletter to go out to Nativity families in
late May/early June.
2.
Lee Hoedl will contact Kyle Edgerton and Todd Mickelson to indentify
any FCSN process for potential grant writing by the committee.
Follow-Up:
Todd Mickelson has informed Lee that the following process should occur
if grant writing occurs within the committee: "We
complete Grant Writing in the Development Office and most of the Grants
have their own format. Due to the fact that Grant requests will be made
on behalf of the FCSN (Tax ID & 501(c)3 status) and that we may
be approaching them for other needs, I would like to approve all organizations
to be solicited as well as the final grant request prior to submittal."
Further
Commitee Actions: (1) Gretchen Noah and Margit Schmelka will work with
Todd Mickelson in processing any appropriate grants for the play station
equipment, based on the procedures outlined above. (2) Independent fundraising
efforts (like the "On With the Show") will be further investigated
by Gretchen and Margit for committee discussion.
3.
Committee members will review the provided catalogue of playstation
equipment and begin developing their personal "wish list"
to share at the May 7 committee meeting.
Further
Committee Actions: Committee members' personal "wish list"
of playground play station equipment are to be submitted to Lee no
later than Thursday, May 15.
Please
submit your list to Lee (item and page # from the catalogue distributed)
by email - to leehoedl@yahoo.com.
Please
also specify your color scheme preference (back inside cover of the
catalogue displays the colors) for your play station equipment preferences.
