Commmittee
Members:
Following
our meeting on Wednesday, May 28, I have placed notes below for your perusal.
Please read through them thoroughly (as portions of it may pertain to
you directly) and let me know if you have any revisions, additions or
updates.
As
well, Ken Follman sent me both the newly revised play structure (which
comes in at approximately $40,000) and a newly proposed Natvity playground
site plan. Click on the images below to download and open up the larger
pdf file of the images. As well, respond back to this entire email list
as to your impressions of the newly revised play structure and site plan.
We need to find consensus so that Ken can be given the "go-ahead"
for three-dimensional drawings of the proposed play structure.
We
are schedule to meet again as a committee on Wednesday, June 11
at 5:30 pm at Doolittles Restaurant.
Thanks
again for all of your hard work, committee members, and for your visionary
abilities, Ken! We are continuing to move in a very positive and productive
direction.
Peace,
Lee

OPENING PRAYER
II.
GENERAL UPDATES (Lee Hoedl)
A.
Grant Preparation and Writing (Gretchen Noah and Margit Schmelka)
Margit
Schmelka has asked that whatever play structure is designed, that Ken
Follman provide her and Gretchen Noah with a percentage total of the
structure that is ADA-applicable.
Lee
Hoedl informed the committee that he and Cindy Hutchins would stay in
close contact with Todd Mickelson so as to explore any and all private
donations to the playground renovation project.
B.
Playground Equipment Removal (Paul Kochmann)
Paul
Kochman informed the committee that all that needs to be done is contact
"Joe" of the Hutterite community and they would come and remove
the present playground equipment immediately. Following the removal,
the present playground area will need to be secured by orange snow fencing.
Cindy
Hutchins informed the committee that the present playground area needs
to be at least 12 feet from the sound wall, so as to accommodate the
future Nativity Parish capital campaign initiatives.

Other Announcements and Updates
III.
REVIEW OF PRELIMINARY DESIGNS FROM "WISH LIST" (Ken
Follman)
Ken
Follman presented a site plan and play structure based on "wish
list" feedback from committee members and various Nativity community
sources. This "wish list" structure priced out at approximately
$48,200.
It
was the committee's consensus that the play structure needed to remain
around the $40,000 range, so as to allow for expenses stemming from
the purchase of concrete and ground cover.
After
much discussion, the above proposed designs were created by Ken Follman
and shared with committee members on May 29, 2008.

FURTHER PLAN OF ACTION
In
preparation for our next meeting, the following plan of action will
be addressed:
A.
Playground Equipment Removal
Following
group discussion, it was decided that the best course of action is
to accomplish the following:
- Cut
the footings off of the present geodome structure, so it is ready
to be moved. Ken Follman informed the group that this structure
does not need to be anchored when the project renovation is completed.
- Dig
around the footings of the playground equipment that will remain
and break off and remove the concrete, so as to set aside this equipment.
- Contact
the Hutterite community and have them remove the playground equipment
that will be permanently removed from the site. [Paul Kochmann will
make sure the liability text is forwarded to Cindy Hutchins so that
it can be put on letterhead and signed]
- Arrange
to have a backhoe (Mike Kjera) fill in all remaining holes and level
out the present playground area, so as to prepare the playground
for the new layout and equipment.
B.
Committee Feedback on Revised Play Structure
The
committee will review the revised play structure designs and respond
to the entire email listing, so as to develop consensus and allow
Ken Follman to provide the committee with three-dimensional renderings
of the proposed play structure.
C.
Expenses
Beyond
the proposed structure, pricing will be secured as to the purchase
of concrete for footings, ground cover and any other incidentals.
These updated costs will be given to Rita Visser to forward to the
present PTO Board.
VI.
NEXT MEETING
The
next committee meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 11 at 5:30 pm
at Doolittles Restaurant.
