Oct. 17 Update: Lee is Over 800 Miles Down the Road Toward Boston and Its Marathon www.hoedlshaven.com/2009BOSTONMARATHON Friend: It has been the most interesting (actually, downright spooky) week of running in the Fargo, North Dakota area. We had unseasonably wet weather that lasted for almost five days straight, which raised the Red River (running north through Fargo) to flood stage level. With the fall season beginning and the ground already saturated, there's been nowhere for the water to go. So, amidst the autumn rains, I chose to take on a few of my most watery training runs to date. In fact, after a 14-mile training run, I had more rain water on me than I had sweat. You can view (YouTube) one of my long weekend runs - during just the drizzle - by going to my homepage. In that video, I recognize those individuals and families that are my recent sponsors - THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR DONATION! This past week's training miles were dedicated to Fargo resident Rusty Ouart and his family. Rusty was injured while on mission in Iraq. He is currently at the Fort Lewis Medical Base in Tacoma, WA. Rusty and his wife Marilyn have 3 children, Skylar 10, Brady 8, and Jayden 5. Please keep them in your prayers as well.
Would you be able to help me? The processes (online, cash, or check) by which you can donate any funds you are able to share can be found at DONATIONS. But first, let me give you just one suggestion in this update:
What will you receive in return for your donation?
With a little less than 50% of my miles completed, that leaves only 828 miles to complete before April 20, 2009. Virtually speaking, I am presently just over the border and into the state of Ohio. To follow my progress, visit: WHERE'S LEE - VIRTUAL MAP.
At my personal Boston Marathon website (coinciding with the Miles for Miracles Team Boston website), in addition to tracking my virtual miles, I am updating information pertaining to:
In advance, I want to thank you for any support (money, prayer, encouragement) that you have given or will give toward my efforts. Please feel free to share this information with family and friends. If 1000 persons each gave only one single dollar, that would be quite a large donation to such a worthy cause - and always remember that no donation is too small. As well, your prayers and positive vibes are also welcomed. Thanks so much for your support and your friendship, as I keep on trekking on... Peace, Lee
