Oct. 31 Update: It's Downright Scary, But Lee's Is Almost 900 Miles Down The Road

Friend:

We have turned the corner past autumn and the North Dakota winter is just around the corner. A brief snow shower last Sunday was an early reminder of what is in store for those of us who live in the upper Midwest of the United States. In fact, you can catch a little of the pre-winter action at the end of the latest YouTube video I've posted. Just click on the link above that will take you to my homepage. At the beginning of the YouTube video is a short reflection I've put together, entitled "Given Life to Celebrate Life." I hope you enjoy its message.

And, although it's not as clear on the YouTube video (sorry), I also take a moment to acknowledge those recent individuals who have helped sponsor my fundraising efforts for the Children's Hospital Boston. If you have not had a chance to, please consider (even if it's just a dollar or two) sharing your generosity. How? Just read below...

Lee is just over $3000 for the Children's Hospital Boston, toward a personal goal of $5000.

Would you be able to help me? The processes (online, cash, or check) by which you can donate any funds you are able to share can be found at DONATIONS.

What will you receive in return for your donation?

First of all, you will receive a wonderful charitable tax deduction from Children's Hospital Boston.

You will also receive a front-row seat to the 2009 Boston Marathon as I bring out the LEECAM once again to record just such a race. What is the LEECAM? Check out the LEECAM's work at the 2008 Disneyworld Marathon and the 2008 Disneyland Half-Marathon.

You will be personally recognized in an upcoming YouTube video for your contribution (not the amount, just the name).

You will receive my deepest gratitude and I will dedicate one mile or more of my 1628 miles to you and your family.

By November 2, Lee will have completed 903 total miles toward Boston.

With more than 50% of my miles completed (phew), that leaves only 725 miles to complete before April 20, 2009. Virtually speaking, I by November 2, I will be near the city of Fremont, Ohio. To follow my progress, visit: WHERE'S LEE - VIRTUAL MAP.

The following can also be found on my website for my Children's Hospital Boston fundraising:

Lee's 1628 Dedicated Miles

Miles 865 - 903 (Week of Oct. 27) were dedicated to my wonderful big sister Cheryl (Hoedl) Jones.

Miles 826 - 864 (Week of Oct. 20) were dedicated to Rusty Ouart, father of Nativity Elementary School students. Rusty was injured while on mission in Iraq. He is currently at the Fort Lewis Medical Base in Tacoma, WA. Rusty and his wife Marilyn have 3 children, Skylar 10, Brady 8, and Jayden 5.

Miles 799 - 825 (Week fo Oct. 13) were dedicated to To Nicholas Hector Fabio Morton, 18-year-old cousin (of a dear friend) who died recently in a bicycling accident [see STAR TRIBUNE synopsis].

AND Miles 904 - 937 (Week of Nov. 4) will be dedicated to John and Sophie Kenney and Kenney Family, dear friends. May the grace of God surround you in this time of confusion, challenge and healing.

Recent Proud Sponsors of Children's Hospital Boston

Without individuals, families and agencies such as these, I couldn't possibly accomplish what I am attempting; in advance, thank you so much for your support:
Ron and Delura Anderson Family
Conmy Feste Law Firm
Dana and Kari Brock Family
Steve and Cindy Noack Family
Mark and Gretchen Noah Family
A complete list of very gracious sponsors can be found here

---------------------------------------------------

As a final note to this update, I want to thank you for the support (whether it is monetary or spiritual) that you have given or will give toward my efforts. I want you to know that this is not simply a fundraising stunt for me - I truly believe in the positive impact that can be generated by "paying it forward." Regardless of whether you are able to donate to this cause, please consider donating to a worthy cause before the end of the year. It is that small token that helps us all feel a little more connected with one another.

Thanks again so much for your support and your friendship, as I keep on trekking on. And best to luck to all my colleagues who are planning to run the New York City Marathon on Sunday, November 2 - I will think of you as I complete my long-run on Sunday as well.

Peace, Lee
