DISNEY POST-RACE DETAILS

All the anticipation is over and now your half marathon and/or marathon is about to come to an end as well... so what is next? Time to celebrate and relax during your post-race experience!

NOURISHMENT/REFUELING

Just beyond the finish line and your medal, there will be Disney race volunteers that will be ready with a mylar blanket and fresh refreshments (water, Powerade, fruits, etc.) for you. Be sure to take enough to replenish you - the first 30 minutes are crucial in refueling yourself and allowing your body to begin healing.

MEDICAL ASSISTANCE

Take a look at the map on right (green rectangular box near the finish line - click to see a larger view). You will see the medical tent that will be on your right and continue on through the finisher's area. Be sure to utilize their services if you need anything from a bag of ice to ibuprofen.

BAG PICK-UP

As you continue beyond the food/refreshment area, be sure to take your finisher's photo with Disney staff and go directly to the Bag Check Tent where you left race bag of items. As you exit out the other side of your Bag Check Tent, you can either meet up with family or friends or proceed directly to your parking lot or the Disney Resort Bus Pick-Up area (pink rectangular box - see map above).

Should you have friends or family meeting you, be sure to share the map above with them and identify an area (away from the Bag Check Tents) in the staging area to meet after your race. Often times, too many family members and friends crowd the exits of the Bag Check Tents and runners have a more difficult time exiting.

DISNEY RESORT BUS PICK-UP

Be sure to hang on to your mylar blanket that was given to you at the finish line; the Disney buses tend to remain air conditioned and you can easily cool down and stiffen up before you get back to your hotel room. Continue to drink water, juice or Powerade as you continue on your ride back to your Disney hotel. The shuttle buses to the Disney hotels will - if all follows with past years' format - be to the far right of the staging area (the area where you earlier left to get to the starting corrals) - it is labeled on the far right of the map above.

AND BE SURE TO WEAR YOUR DISNEY RACE MEDAL EVERYWHERE!
