It
is the purpose of the Nativity Playground Renovation project to fully
replace the present Nativity Elementary outdoor playground equipment.
This initiative has been identified and placed on the Nativity PTO Board's
on-going wish list since 2005.

Within
the context of the 2007-2008
Nativity Budget Development, Nativity Principal Cindy Hutchins presented
preliminary research (in cooperation with Dakota Fence) that estimates
initial costs for an entire playground equipment replacement to exceed
$50,000.
Because
of amount of funding needed and the need to replace this equipment (as
it has exceeded its 20-year life span), the Nativity PTO Board was asked
to consider the development of a completely separate multi-year fundraising
effort to address this project.

On
May 20, 2007, the Nativity PTO Board unanimously approved a proposal presented
by Lee Hoedl to form the Nativity Playground Renovation Committee. This
committee has been assigned the responsibility of:
- Serving
as a separate fund-raising entity from the Nativity PTO Fundraising
Committee, but to work closely with this standing committee;
- Further
investigating expenses for fully replacing the present Nativity outdoor
playground equipment and reporting these initial expenses to the Nativity
PTO before proceeding on fundraising efforts;
- Serving
as a representative committee of the larger Nativity Elementary community;
- Providing
the Nativity community with adequate information as to the project's
process and progress.
As
well on May 20, 2007, the
Nativity PTO Board appointed Lee Hoedl as the chair of the Nativity Playground
Renovation project.

Detailed
information concerning the formation and progress of the Nativity Playground
Renovation project can be found in the Timeline.
