BASKET AUCTION COMMITTEE

It is the purpose of the Basket Auction Committee to provide the Carnival with another avenue of fund-raising while also providing families and guests with another avenue for prize-winning and entertainment.

Baskets are assembled through individual classroom solicitation, based on a particular theme. From these items collected, as well items donated, baskets are assembled, decorated and put on silent auction on the evening of the Carnival.

ONGOING DISCUSSION ITEMS/INFORMATION

  • The Basket Auction was huge again in 2005 with 111 baskets.
  • There needs to be some discussion and planning for a different way of placing the baskets for bid. They now run up and down both sides of the south hallway, and it gets very congested. Perhaps a new area or areas should be considered for displaying the baskets for auction, and more people should be helping at the end of the auction to collect and distribute to the winners. Even separating the baskets into 2 or 3 sections and placing each section in a classroom should be considered.
  • Splitting the baskets into auction groups that ended at different times was also a concern. Many people were unaware that part of the auction ended before 8:30.
  • If overhead signage is placed in the hallways for the event, the basket auction rooms would be visible.
