MINI-RAFFLE COMMITTEE

It is the purpose of the Mini-Raffle Committee to provide the Carnival with another avenue of fund-raising while also providing families and guests with another avenue for prize-winning and entertainment.

Small-priced items are donated from various sources (i.e. family solicitation, business solicitation, etc.) - price range: $5 - $25 - and then are used as small raffle items throughout the evening of the Carnival.

The Mini-Raffle is usually situated in one location at the Carnival - a classroom across the hallway from the Game Rooms.

ONGOING DISCUSSION ITEMS/INFORMATION

2006 CARNIVAL

  • In order to (1) ease in prize solicitation and (2) increase the number of overall prizes available to win, the Raffle and Mini-Raffle Revisions and Redesign plan has been developed.
  • The mini raffle had lots of wonderful prizes this year from not only Nativity families, but from businesses solicited for donations. It is a good idea to have a solicitor for merchandise or gift certificates from local businesses and restaurants. Applebee’s, A & W, Dairy Queen, Blockbuster, Subway, and Hi Ho South are some of the restaurants that donated gift certificates. Hurley’s Religious Goods and Scheel’s Allsports donated merchandise.
  • Calling and picking up donations should take place in January, and thank you notes should be written to each donor on behalf of the school.
  • Happy Joe's Pizza donated free pizza coupons and these were used in the Mini Raffle Room as a way to encourage participants

2005 CARNIVAL

  • The mini raffle was not in a good place this year (2005). It caused traffic congestion, and it was hard for carnival-goers to get near the table to register for the raffles. Some brainstorming should take place to determine a new format for this area.
